Tumi ki ámáke gele bhule
E kii tava liilá hiyá niye khelá
Komal kena kat́hor hale

Kusumakorake madhu rúpe chile
Vajra hutáshe dáhan haye gele
Ashani nirghośe mamatá gelo bhese
Parág páśáń haye gele

Jene gechi ámi tava paricay
Kat́hor haye tháká tomár káj nay
Punah komal habe habe madhumay
Marme hásibe sure tále

সম্মুখে ছিলে আড়ালে লুকোলে
তুমি কি আমাকে গেলে ভুলে’
এ কী তব লীলা হিয়া নিয়ে খেলা
কোমল কেন কঠোর হলে

কুসুমকোরকে মধু রূপে ছিলে
বজ্র হুতাশে দাহন হয়ে গেলে
অশনি নির্ঘোষে মমতা গেল ভেসে’
পরাগ পাষাণ হয়ে গেলে

জেনে’ গেছি আমি তব পরিচয়
কঠোর হয়ে থাকা তোমার কাজ নয়
পুনঃ কোমল হবে হবে মধুময়
মর্মে হাসিবে সুরে তালে

You had been front and center, but You hid behind a screen;
Did You go off and lose sight of me?
Such is Your Cosmic Game, a sport with the heart!
Tender One, why did You become severe?

Inside the flower bud You had been in shape of spring;
With anguish about thunderbolts, You became a ghastly heat.
Upon lightning's thunderclap, affection went a-sailing,
The pollen having become stonelike, unfeeling.

Now Your particulars I have conceived;
Staying hardhearted, it is not Your thing.
Once more You'll be tender, You will be full of honey;
You will smile at heart's core with melody and beat.
