Tomar kache amar prashna is the 726th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomár káche ámár prashna
Shońo ogo bedaradii
Práńii kena keṋde áse
Hese báṋcalo ná jadi

Puśpa kena kiit́e kát́e
Madhu kháy kálo bhramar
Hási kena ná bikoy hát́e
Shishu káṋde aśt́a prahar
Káro mot́e kśud ná jot́e
Keu phele kháy kśiir dadhi

Sandhyáráge hátcháni dey
Kena nisháy aṋdhár ghanáy
Man kena vipathete jáy
Tumi jakhan ácho niravadhi

O lord,
hear my question to you!
O heartless one, listen!

Why do living beings come (to this world) crying,
if they cannot survive smilingly?

Why do insects destroy flowers
and honey is eaten up by blackbees?

Why is laughter not sold in the marketplace
and why does the infant cry round the clock?

Why are some people unable to satisfy their hunger,
while others eat by wasting even rich food?

Why does the beauty of evenings call me by hand signals,
whereas nights are deeply dark?

Why does the mind move towards an undesirable path
when you are ever present?
