O lord,
When I saw You inside the [[:wikipedia:Magnolia champaca|champak]] garden,
when i saw you in the frangipani grove,
Until then under the petals nectar was hidden.
I found nectar hidden beneath delicate petals.
Why kept You seated lackadaisically
As hope-filled eyes gazed Your way in vain?

Why is he so lost in his own thoughts?
Having stepped on fallen leaves intentionally,
My eyes, filled with longing,
That hearing the sound You'd wonder who had come,
sought his gaze in vain.
Till that time my lamp of hope was burning bright.

I walked through dry fallen leaves,
Abrim with bashful sweetness, I was striding slowly;
Hoping the sound might
Hope was there, although You failed to look at me.
alert you that i had come.
Up to then, on flower petals fragrance remained.

My lamp of hope glowed,
full of sweetness.
I stepped forward slowly and shyly.

I hoped, like fragrance wafting up
from flower petals,
He would lift his gaze and look at me.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomáre dekhechi jabe cáṋpára vane
Takhano pápŕi d́háká madhu chilo
Kena je basechile ánamane
Áshá bhará áṋkhi brthá ceye chilo

Jhará pátári pare pá phelechi bhálo kare
Dhvani shuńe játe bhávo e ke go elo
Takhano áshár diip jvalitechilo

Caliyáchi dhiire dhiire salája mádhuri bhare
Áshá chilo jadi bhule tákiye phelo
Takhano phuler dale gandha chilo

When I saw You inside the champak garden,
Until then under the petals nectar was hidden.
Why kept You seated lackadaisically
As hope-filled eyes gazed Your way in vain?

Having stepped on fallen leaves intentionally,
That hearing the sound You'd wonder who had come,
Till that time my lamp of hope was burning bright.

Abrim with bashful sweetness, I was striding slowly;
Hope was there, although You failed to look at me.
Up to then, on flower petals fragrance remained.
