Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi álo d́hele dile
Tabu nijeke dekhi ni
Álor puruś tumi álote chile
Ámi dekhite cái ni

Bhogya pańya khuṋje gechi dharáte
Jár tare bhog cái ni khuṋjite
Karmake dekhiyáchi kartáke nay
Kartár kathá bhávi ni

Jaŕke shreśt́atá diye gechi ámi
Jaŕer májháre púrńatá ceyechi
Je tumi eta dile táke bhule
Álo d́hálá pathe cali ni

O lord, you poured light,
still i could see my real self.
o effulgent Entity, you were in light,
still i did not want to see you.
i continued seeking on the earth
the object of enjoyment, as commodity.
but i did not search the entity
for whom the enjoyment is meant.
I saw only the action and not the real doer,
did not even think of the real doer.
i continued to recognize
the superiority of inert matter
and looked for totality in that.
Forgetting whatever so much you have given me,
i never treaded the illuminated path.
