O Lord,
If to the world You are coupled,
You integrate the world,
Am I out of Your universe?
so why should i remain aside you?
If You are suffering's overthrow,
Why am I so full of sorrow?

If you are the remover of sorrow,
I don't want worldly pleasure, what I want is peace;
why should i remain full of it?
No boon is granted if such mercy I receive.
I need but a tiny hut in which to lay my head...
A garland of pearls I don't request,
But I reject a pent-up prison cell.

I do not want comforts but peace.
You are great, and I am small;
I do not want blessings but grace.
A flake of snow am I, and You are my Destroyer.

If my body You were to touch,
I just want a small shelter for my head.
I'd start to melt as if I'm water;
I do not want a garland of pearls nor a closed prison.
I wish Earth to be colorful.
You are great,
I am a meagre.

I am the snow,
You are the stern divinity.

By your touch
my body melts as if water.
A colourful earth
is what i long for.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi jadi jagatjoŕá
Ámi ki jagatcháŕá
Tumi jadi duhkhahará
Ámi kena duhkhe bhará

Sukh cái náko shánti je cái
Bardán nahe krpá jena pái
(Cái) Máthá goṋjár chot́t́a cálá
Cái ná motir málá
Ámi cái ná baddha kárá

Tumi mahat ámi kśudra
Ámi tuśár tumi rudra
Tomár parash lágle gáye
Gale je jái jal haye
Ámi cái je rauṋiin dhará

If to the world You are coupled,
Am I out of Your universe?
If You are suffering's overthrow,
Why am I so full of sorrow?

I don't want worldly pleasure, what I want is peace;
No boon is granted if such mercy I receive.
I need but a tiny hut in which to lay my head...
A garland of pearls I don't request,
But I reject a pent-up prison cell.

You are great, and I am small;
A flake of snow am I, and You are my Destroyer.
If my body You were to touch,
I'd start to melt as if I'm water;
I wish Earth to be colorful.
