On a silent and lonely monsoon night,

Wringing my heart, He departed.

Now thunderbolts fall on my eyelids,
Promptly downcast by that which was told.
What was disclosed, oh, what was disclosed!


My heart has been wrung
My heart was broken by His leaving;
to its very core.
Oh, will He ever come back again?
What consternation!
Day and night, continually,
He has gone.
I ponder only His words at every moment.
 
All of the time, oh, all of the time!
Thunder flickers on my eyelids;
it is a sign,
but i cannot fathom his design.
Ah, frustration!

devastating my life
and i yearn for his return.

Giyáche ámár mukutár hár
Baṋdhuyá ámár se je chilo
Giyáche caliyá niuṋáŕiyá hiyá
Marma mathiyá e kii halo
(Áj) Ashani nipáte mor áṋkhipáte
Hatáshá cakite kii je bale

Búk bheuṋge diye giyáche caliyá

বরষার রাতে নীরবে নিভৃতে
বঁধুয়া গিয়াছে মোরে ফেলে
মোরে ফেলে ওগো মোরে ফেলে

গিয়াছে আমার মুকুতার হার
বঁধুয়া আমার সে যে ছিলো
গিয়াছে চলিয়া নিঙাড়িয়া হিয়া
মর্ম মথিয়া এ কী হলো
(আজ) অশনি নিপাতে মোর আঁখিপাতে
হতাশা চকিতে কী যে বলে
কী যে বলে ওগো কী যে বলে

বুক ভেঙ্গে দিয়ে গিয়াছে চলিয়া
সে কি গো আবার আসিবে ফিরিয়া
দিবস যামিনী সতত যে আমি
তারই কথা ভাবি প্রতি পলে
প্রতি পলে ওগো প্রতি পলে
