Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Varaśár ráte tumi esechile
Rajaniigandhá vane
Ámi chinu abhimáne
Argal deoyá ghare
Chinu chot́t́a grhakońe

Jhat́ikár par jhat́iká eseche
Ágháter par ághát legeche
Tabu tumi sárá rát jegechile
Surer aekatáne

Muśaldháráy vrśt́i nemeche
Jhápt́ár par jhápt́á legeche
Tabu tumi sárá rát jegechile
Mamatámadhur t́áne

Jhaŕer rátete tumi esechile
Rajaniigandhá vane
Ámi chinu ánmane
Argal deoyá ghare
Rajaniigandhá jáne

On a rainy night You came
In the garden of tuberoses.
I felt my pride wounded—
So the house was bolted,
And I sat in a tiny corner.

Storm after storm came.
Wound after wound was suffered.
Still, throughout the night, You kept awake
The music concert.

The rains were pouring in torrential gusts,
Sweeping and blowing in gale after gale.
Yet, the whole night You kept awake,
Drawn by the sweet pull of love

In the stormy night You came,
In the garden of tuberoses.
Unmindfully, I sat in my small, closed room.
Only the tuberoses knew You had come.
