Áshá bhará áṋkhipáte
Eṋke rekhechi

Mánas jamuná tiire
Khuṋje beŕái prati prahare
Vyatháhata áṋkhiniire
Kena phire esechi

আমি তোমায় চেয়েছি
এলে না দেখা দিলে না
কী দোষ করেছি

ভাবি তোমায় দিনে রাতে
সন্ধ্যারাগে রঙিন প্রাতে
আশা-ভরা আঁখিপাতে
এঁকে' রেখেছি

মানস-যমুনা তীরে
খুঁজে' বেড়াই প্রতি প্রহরে
ব্যথাহত আঁখিনীরে
কেন ফিরে' এসেছি

For You I have longed;
You did not arrive, no sight did You provide
What crime have I done?

About You day and night I think,
Neath evening hues, on colorful mornings.
On eyelids hope is replete;
Traced there, I have stored.

On bank of the Jamuna in psyche,

Sorrow-stricken, tearfully,
Back again why have I come?
