Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Jiivaner pratham dine
Je sudhá jhariyechile
Tári áveshe mátiye
Calivár prerańá dile

Ávege elum pathe
Nisháná jáná chilo ná
Saḿvege hárálum
Tomáke dekhlumi ná
Bhulini ájo se kathá
Anutáp jágiyechile

Kata jug cale geche
Kata ki atiita hayeche
Kata phul jhare paŕeche
Já mane phut́iyechile

On first day of existence,
That ambrosia You'd cascaded—
Through it only, rapt and excited,
Movement You goaded.

With passion, upon path I entered;
The goal had been a mystery.
I'd been feeling anxious;
Yourself I did not see.
Even yet I did not forget that story;
Regret and remorse had been awakened.

Gone away have many ages;
In the past how much has been?
Many flowers, they have fallen—
In the mind whatever had blossomed.

Recordings

Currently, only the following audio rendition is available. Though the quality of the recording is more than adequate, the artist consistently sings the final word of the third line incorrectly as mátiyá instead of mátiye (per all of the Bengali source). Hence another recording is required.
