Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Pathapáne ceye ceye
Kata rátri cale jáy
Elo ná se madhu nisháy
Elo ná malaya váy

Vyathá ámár bojho ná ki
Tái ki ácho áṋkhi d́háki
Nijere sudúre rákhi
Ámáy phele ekákii
Viśam e jhaiṋjháy

Bhulecho ki ámi ańu
Tava kalpanáy mor tanu
Ámi khadyot tumi bhánu
Tabe kena bájáo veńu
Dúr theke e abeláy

Looking towards the arrival path,
how many nights go on passing.
That sweet night did not come,
the sandal breeze did not come.
Perhaps You do not understand my agony,
that is why You have kept Your eyes covered.
You have kept Yourself far,
leaving me alone under such a terrible storm.
Have You forgotten that I am an atom
and that my body is made by Your imagination.
I am a firefly and You are sun.
Then why do You go on playing Your flute,
leaving me alone at my hard time.
