O lord,
In light and shade, pleasure and pain,
in light and shade,
So many lifetimes have gone by.
in pain and pleasure
What I've attained, that I've mislaid;
how many lives passed by?
But I've endured, hope entwined.

Whatever i got, i again lost
Storms have come, tearing to pieces,
but i still remained hopeful.
Setting my existence adrift.
Graciously once more I've got the same...
To fill my psyche I have craved;
And, path ignored, I've gone astray...
But I don't comprehend much of it.

Having come down like a storm,
I've understood You now, I've found the path;
I wasted my life in eating and drinking only.
I've learned to move in radiance celestial.
This time, by your grace,
That very grace provide; please give more light,
I wish to fulfil my ambition.
Having effaced all blemishes of mine.

Disregarding the proper path,
I moved on wrong sides,
ignoring varieties, distinctions and differentiations.
Today, i understood you,
and found the proper path.
I learned to move along the divine light.

Keep bestowing on me this much grace.
Provide more and more illumination
and wipe out all darkness.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Álote cháyáte duhkha sukhete
Ket́eche janam kata
Jata páiyáchi tata háráyechi
Thekechi ásháy rata

Eseche tuphán kare khán khán
Bhásáyeche e jiivan
Ábár krpáy peyechi táháy
Ceyechi bharite man (ámi)
Path bhule vipathe caliyáchi
Bujhi náko atashata

(Áj) Tomáre bujhechi path páiyáchi
Divyadyutite calite shikhechi
Ei krpá karo dáo álo áro
Mucháye kálimá jata

In light and shade, pleasure and pain,
So many lifetimes have gone by.
What I've attained, that I've mislaid;
But I've endured, hope entwined.

Storms have come, tearing to pieces,
Setting my existence adrift.
Graciously once more I've got the same...
To fill my psyche I have craved;
And, path ignored, I've gone astray...
But I don't comprehend much of it.

I've understood You now, I've found the path;
I've learned to move in radiance celestial.
That very grace provide; please give more light,
Having effaced all blemishes of mine.
