O lord,
Lord, with melodic magic come You had,
You came in the illusion of melody,
Ever singing songs upon the path.
singing your songs on the path.
None was there to welcome Thee;

At daybreak all were fast asleep.
There was none to welcome you,
all were in deep sleep,
even in the morning time.

You did not want any welcome or any garland,
there were no devotees to surround you.
There was a smile on your face,
a melody and a flute.

You came with rhythm in a beautiful form.
You don't discern greetings or wreathes,
With the tinkling sound of anklebells,
And by devotees You weren't ringed.
that emanated from your sweet feet,
On Your mouth was a grin, tuneful flute in company;
You took your place in the depth of my mind.
You appeared, assuming shape with rhythmic beats.

You came in surprise
With anklets jingling on sweet feet,
into my mental vrida'vana,
You took the readied place in niche of psyche.
and secretly applied opening ointment onto my eyes,
In mind's [[:wikipedia:Vrindavan|Vrndavan]], privately and in a trice,
to fulfil the heart of an affectionate one.
You arrived, kohl on Your eyes,
Filling the heart of a favorite.

Esechile prabhu surera mayay is the 1274th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Esechile prabhu surera máyáy
Gán geye geye patha pare
Svágata jánáte keu chila náko
Sabe ghumaghore chila bhore

Svágata cáha ni málá cáha ni to
Chile ná bhaktajanaparivrta
Mukhe chila hási sáthe laye báṋshii
Ele tále tále rúp dhare

Núpura rańane madhura carańe
Sthán kare nile manera gahane
Mana vrndávane cakite[nb 2] gopane
Aiṋjane ele áṋkhi pare
Priitibhájaner hiyá bhare

Lord, with melodic magic come You had,
Ever singing songs upon the path.
None was there to welcome Thee;
At daybreak all were fast asleep.

You don't discern greetings or wreathes,
And by devotees You weren't ringed.
On Your mouth was a grin, tuneful flute in company;
You appeared, assuming shape with rhythmic beats.

With anklets jingling on sweet feet,
You took the readied place in niche of psyche.
In mind's Vrndavan, privately and in a trice,
You arrived, kohl on Your eyes,
Filling the heart of a favorite.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Here preference is given to latest Bangla text.[2] Some earlier texts and the audio file give cakita instead of cakite, but that does not make sense in context.
