Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Meghe d́háká varaśáy vári jhará tamasáy
Áṋkhiniire d́eke gechi tomáre
Caiṋcala pavane mukharita svanane
Aiṋjan áṋká chilo maner gabhiire

Niiláiṋjana cháyá jhaiṋjháy udvel
Saiṋcita pelavatá pelo prabhu e kii shael
Karaká dhárár pare ashanir haḿkáre
Hrdayvrtti háriye geche timire

Jáni e tamisrá ket́e jábe ekdin
Sab iti sare jábe úśasiite habe liin
Ámár áṋkhir pare tamasár parapáre
Jyotidhárá dhará debe nandita prahare

O lord,
during rains that were so thick that even clouds could not be seen,
rains that turned the sky dark,
I called you with tear-filled eyes.

In the restless wind,
amidst the resonating noise,
and in the depth of mind,
a dark eye mark was applied onto me.

O lord,
under the blue shade of the sky,
imbibing the assembled restlessness of the storm,
would the rock obtain softness?

After the flow of lightning
and the thunder of meteorites,
the compressed thought of my heart
became lost in darkness.

I know that one day this darkness will be over,
and all calamity and distress to be removed,
in the absorption of a new morning.

Beyond my eyes and beyond darkness,
You will provide
flows of effulgence
and periods of joy.
