Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

(Álo esechilo) Cáṋd hesechilo
Krśńa megher páshe ucchala áveshe
Man bhesechilo shikhii necechilo

Tamasár sheś halo bujhechi priya
Niráshá sariye diye áshá bhario
Mantráviśt́a mor prańati nio
Manoviińá bájilo

Supta hrday mor jege' ut́hilo
Lupta cetaná bodh phiriyá elo
Pramatta ávege práń mátilo
Eke anek mishilo[nb 2]

Light had come, the moon had smiled.
Alongside dark clouds with lively passion,
A peacock had danced; buoyant had been the mind.

Gloom's end had been, Darling, I have realized;
Despair having rid, hope You give in full supply.
My bewitched prostration You acquire;
You played on psyche's lyre.

My dormant heart, awakened it did rise;
Awareness defunct, sense returning, it arrived.
With drunken zest, frantic became life;
Into one the many, they did unite.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ All of the published Bangla source reads mililo, but the earliest audio source has mishilo. Here mishilo is favored, because the meaning is sweeter.
