Alo jhara kon sudur prabhate is the 538th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Álo jhará kon sudúr prabháte
Dekhá hayechilo tava sáthe
Jeneo sedin jánite pári ni
Bujhite pári ni kona mate

Ahaḿkárete chilám uddhata
Jiṋáner cápete buddhite kśata
Natajánu haye jánite bujhite
Pári niko lája-bhayete

Pelám ná kichu darshane khuṋje
Vijiṋáne gelo mánavatá ghuce
Rágátmiká e bhaktite dekhi
Ese gecho dharáchoṋyáte

On what morn, ancient and effulgent,
Had the meeting with You been?
Though it's known I could not know the day;
I could not discern it in any way.

Overcome by ego I was conceited,
Judgment marred by scarred intelligence.
I fell to my knees; but to know and to see,
Still I could not out of shame, out of fear.

I got but little in quest of philosophy;
With science, demolished was humanity.
Through pure devotion[nb 2] I have come to see
You had arrived within my reach.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Rágátmiká bhakti is deemed to be the highest form of devotion, pure devotion. In this state, one loves and serves the Lord for the sole purpose of giving Him pleasure. There is no thought for personal gain.
