Kenaná áŕále rahile
Ásháy ásháy base chilum
Ese niráshá báŕále

Kata áshá jamá chilo
Kata svártha apúrńa chilo
Ámár maner mańikot́háy
Jhalak diye sare gele

Gáṋthá málá jhare gelo
Sádhá gán shúnye milálo
Maner kathá náhi shuńe
Mánasátiite lukále

কথা যদি না কহিলে কেন
কেন তবে দেখা দিলে
কেননা আড়ালে রহিলে
আশায় আশায় বসে' ছিলুম
এসে নিরাশা বাড়ালে

কত আশা জমা ছিলো
কত স্বার্থ অপূর্ণ ছিলো
আমার মনের মণিকোঠায়
ঝলক দিয়ে সরে' গেলে

গাঁথা মালা ঝরে' গেল
সাধা গান শূন্যে মিলালো
মনের কথা নাহি শুণে'
মানসাতীতে লুকালে

When You spoke not, what's the reason,
Why Yourself You did reveal,
Why not stayed behind a screen?
I'd been waiting with much hope;
Having come, You increased despondency.

Stored had been much expectation;
So much ego-interest had been left undone.
At my mental room bejeweled,
Sparkle afforded disappeared.

Threadbare went the garland strung;
The song rehearsed came to naught.
Unheard was psyche's speech;
Beyond desire You were concealed.
