Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kena je áse madhumás malaya vátás
Bujheo bojhe ná
Áji háy phálgunii váy man káre cáy
Mani jáne ná

Kokileri kuhudhvani
Sabáre dey hátcháni
Bale eso káche baso
E tithi roji áse ná

Jagate rauṋera khelá
Arúpe rúperi liilá
Diye jáy kichu náhi cáy
Pháguner nái kona páoná

Why does the springtime come, a vernal breeze
Fathoms not, although perceived.
Alas today, like Phalgun wind, Whom does mind long for–
My mind does not see.

Notes of the cuckoo's call,
To everyone they beckon–
Say they: "Please come and sit close by;
This day arrives not frequently."

A game of color in the worldly sphere,
From form-free is the cosmic play of form only–
It goes on giving and requests naught;
For the spring's advent no debt is there.

Recordings

Currently, only the following audio rendition is available; however, the singer incorrectly sings bojhe as bojho in the refrain. That distorts the meaning.
