Keṋde keṋde tava kabarii bandha
Khuliyá giyáche kár tare (bala)
Vyathá bhará cokhe vyákulatá d́heke
Rákhite pára ná ráge sure

Diner álok mlán haye geche
Sandhyáravir samay hayeche
Ekhana vijane kena ácha bane
Kár smriti manthan kare (bala)

Baláká jáy dúre bahu dúre
Punah phire áse ápanár niiŕe
Tomár baṋdhuyá jadi dúre geche
Ábár se ese jábe phire

কেঁদে কেঁদে’ তব কবরী-বন্ধ
খুলিয়া গিয়াছে কার তরে (বল)
ব্যথা-ভরা চোখে ব্যাকুলতা ঢেকে’
রাখিতে পার না রাগে সুরে

দিনের আলোক ম্লান হয়ে গেছে
সন্ধ্যারবির সময় হয়েছে
এখন বিজনে কেন আছ বনে
কার স্মৃতি মন্থন করে’ (বল)

বলাকা যায় দূরে বহু দূরে
পুনঃ ফিরে’ আসে আপনার নীড়ে
তোমার বঁধুয়া যদি দূরে গেছে
আবার সে এসে’ যাবে ফিরে’

Crying and crying, your braided hair
Got unloosed on account of whom, please say.
With mournful eyes, the shrouded anxiety–
That you cannot hold in music-mode and melody.

The daylight has got faded;
Gloaming's sun has begun.
Alone now, why are you in jungle?
Whose memory has been stirred, do tell.

A stork[nb 2] soars away, very far away...
Then to its nest comes back again.
Your sweetheart, if indeed he went away,
He will return again someday.

  2. ^ According to the Samsad Bengali-English Dictionary, baláká (বলাকা) is a female of "a kind of small goose capable of flying high". It could also mean "a flight of geese". However, the word has been loosely translated as "stork" or "swan". Perhaps of interest, the current logo of Biman Bangladesh Airlines is a stylized white baláká in flight within a red circle.
