Spell

perhaps "কী কঠিন" spelling should be "কি কঠিন"? --TitoDutta 20:08, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

I agree. কি seems to be better than কী. Sorry for the late reply. For a number of reasons I was not feeling competent to consider your question before now. ----Abhidevananda (talk) 02:13, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Truth be told, when you raised your question, I was too inexperienced to offer a reply. I simply wanted to trust the latest Bangla edition out of Kolkata, including some very questionable spelling and word construction. I had little else to go by, and even the distinction between কি and কী was not well known to me. So any reply I gave would have been more sentimental than logical. But at this stage I see the value in the distinction you were making. And while I still have much more to learn about Bangla, I have seen enough mistakes and made enough corrections in respect to the text of Prabhat Samgiita that I feel adequately confident to make this one as well. As to the song you reference, E ki ucchal jyoti sarita, the word কি is preceded by এ. I took that to be a quirky construction of একি, which does indeed translate as "what's this" or maybe "hey what". See here. Oh and by the way, "AM" spelling and Baba's spelling are still not generally the same, at least not in respect to Bangla and specifically in respect to Prabhat Samgiita. Here AM tends to lag far behind Baba... even still. See for example the lyrics of Prabhat Samgiita as they often appear on the Web at Portal:Prabhat Samgiita. On Sarkarverse, using the best reconciliation from Bangla source, I try to bring the Roman Script spelling into accordance with Baba's rules (having added one or two exceptions of my own). For example, when an omitted 'o' appears at the end of a verb, I don't write "bala" or "kara" but rather "balo" and "karo". (Of course there may still be a number of mistakes in that respect that are not yet corrected on Sarkarverse from the earlier songs... the first 500 or 1000 that I posted with translation... before I instituted this rule.) But coming back to this same song, not only did I replace কী with কি, but I also revised the translation. I like the way the lyrics flow... the lyrics of the entire song... much better with কি than with কী. --Abhidevananda (talk) 23:35, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Hey there

Often it feels like He's not paying attention. Somehow that sense tends to draw Him near. --Abhidevananda (talk) 15:17, 29 May 2020 (BST)
