Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Se ámár ápanár
Jánitáma ná áge jánitáma ná
Se ámár sur chilo jatane sádhá
Bhávitáma ná áge bhávitáma ná

Chilo jabe káche káche
Chande o gáne náce
Maner mádhurii mor
Mánitáma ná áge mánitáma ná

Dúre jabe gelo cale ámáre ekelá phele
Ámáre rákhiyá diye virahera dávánale
Chilo kata bhálabásá
Kata rauṋe ráuṋá áshá
(Ekhan bujhechi) Áge bujhitáma ná

He is my very own–
That I did not know; ere now, I did not know.
He was my melody, rehearsed meticulously,
But that I did not think; ere now, I did not think.

When He kept near,
Dancing to lyric and beat,
He was the sweetness of my psyche,
But I did not pay heed; ere now, I did not heed.

At present He has gone away, casting me aside,
Thrusting me into estrangement's fire;
But once there was so much love,
So much splendid aspiration.
At last I've understood; ere now, I did not see.
