Tabu elo ná baṋdhu elo ná
Kusumakánana kariyá cayana
Málá geṋthechi deoyá gelo ná

Cittavediike sájáye rekhechi
Ráge anuráge ásana petechi
Práńera sandiipe pradiip jvelechi
Árati halo ná árati halo ná

Bhávera candane gláni náshiyáchi
Rágánugá bhaktivári secechi
Ragátmikáte nijere bhulechi
Bhulechi jata chilo marmavedaná

ভালোবেসেছি হিয়া সঁপেছি
তবু এলো না বঁধু এলো না
কুসুমকানন করিয়া চয়ন
মালা গেঁথেছি দেওয়া গেলো না

চিত্তবেদীকে সাজায়ে রেখেছি
রাগে অনুরাগে আসন পেতেছি
প্রাণের সন্দীপে প্রদীপ জ্বেলেছি
আরতি হলো না আরতি হলো না

ভাবের চন্দনে গ্লানি নাশিয়াছি
রাগানুগা ভক্তিবারি সেচেছি
রাগাত্মিকাতে নিজেরে ভুলেছি
ভুলেছি যত ছিলো মর্মবেদনা

I have loved, my heart I've entrusted;
Still, my Darling did not come, He did not come.
Picking flowers from the garden,
A garland I have strung; yet no offering was done.

My mental altar I have kept adorned;
I've spread His seat with love and affection.
From my heart-flame, a lamp I've lit;
But árati[nb 2] did not happen.

With abstract sandalpaste, I'd removed impurity,
Being sprinkled with rágánugá bhakti.
Now in rágátmiká I've forgot myself;
I've forgot all pangs of my heart.[nb 3]

  3. ^ According to Sarkar: "High-grade devotion is divided into two categories: rágánugá and rágátmiká. The rágánugá bhakta says, 'Why do I love the Lord, my Vrajagopála, my Parama Puruśa? Because my love for Him gives Him joy, and from this I get joy.' This is rágánugá bhakti. Rágátmiká is somewhat different from rágánugá. The rágátmiká bhakta says: 'I love Parama Puruśa because I want to give Him ánandam. I don’t care whether or not I get ánandam. My only desire is to give Him joy through my love. I shall perform, even at the cost of profuse sweat and difficulty, only those noble deeds which will give Him joy. I am ready to undergo any amount of pain and suffering to give Him joy.'"[3]
