Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Esecho páshe esecho[nb 2]
Madhumáse páshe esecho (tumi)
Mor malinatá jata ávilatá
Asheśe sariye diyecho

Dhúlir sheje ghume chilum ámi
Ámáre tulite neve ele tumi
Sumukhe cáláo divasajámii
Satata sauṋge rayecho

Acená atithi ajáná pathik
Práńer ceyeo tumi je adhik
Áṋkhipallave jánáo kśańik
Mor káche kibá peyecho

You have come by my side, You've appeared;
You've arrived alongside in month of Spring.
My dirtiness, my filthiness,
Withdrawn endlessly You've let be.

I had been aslumber on a bed of dust;
You came below to lift me up.
Day and night You propel to the fore;
Always You've remained in company.

The Traveler unknown, Welcome Guest unfamiliar,
Even than life itself You are much more.
For a brief moment upon eyelids do inform:
Is it so that You've received my proximity!

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In the original notation, this line, which is also the refrain, comes at the beginning of the first verse and not at the end (as sung incorrectly in the only available recording at present).
