Bhavambodhipotam is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti on 1978 September 21 in Patna, India. This discourse is the thirteenth chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 2.^[1]

Synopsis

Bhavámbodhipotam sharanaḿ vrajámah. He is just like a big ship plying across a mighty ocean of bhava. What is bhava? That wee-bit portion of reactive momenta which is the cause of rebirth. Bhava is just like a dangerous ocean, and that mighty ocean is insurmountable. So to surmount it you require a good, big and strong ship. "O Parama Puruśa, You are that ship and we are moving towards that ship to take its shelter in order to cross this ocean of bhava." And there is no other way.

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that none but the Supreme should be our object of thought. He then explains that we often remember past experiences and then recreate them in our minds (smrti). That is not desirable for our sadhana. Anandamurti goes on saying that only the thought of the Supreme can carry us across the vast ocean of action and reaction and bring us to the shore of infinite realisation.^[1]
