Dance, Mudrá and Tantra is the sixth discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in Fiesch, Switzerland.^[1] The discourse was delivered in English on the morning of 1979 May 10.

Snyopsis

Dance is a highly-developed art. In the Oriental variety of music, you know, three items come within the fold of saḿgiita, or music: dance, song, and instrumental music. The collective name in Sanskrit is saḿgiita. Lord Sadáshiva brought everything within the framework of science, and just now I called it “artistic science”. ^[1]

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by stating that music, dance and song already existed before Shiva (7000 years ago), but It was Lord Shiva who combined them into an orderly science. He explains that Oriental dance contains various mudrás (postures) and táńd́ava is it's pristine expression. ^[1]

Anandamurti goes on by stating that táńd́ava represents life and Tantra is the spirit of overcoming darkness through struggle. ^[1]
