Pleasing the Lord is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti on 1978 August 19 in Patna, India. This discourse is the sixteenth chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 1.^[1]

Synopsis

Bhakti is greater than jinana and karma. What is bhakti? The root word “bhaj” and the suffix “ktin” make the word “bhakti.” “Bhaj” means moving towards that Supreme Entity without any second thought. When all your sentiments, all your aspirations, move towards that Singular Entity without any second thought, then that psychic movement of yours if called “bhakti.”

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that among the three ways to achieve salvation, Bhakti is the best. He then explains the meaning of the term Bhakti: moving towards parama Brahma without any second thought in the mind. Anandamurti goes on explaining the difference between Raganuga and Ragatmika Bhakti. In Ragatmika Bhakti, the sole desire of the devotee is to please the Lord, Henceforth the routh to emancipation is paved.^[1]
