Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that a Sadhaka is like a soldier and in order to reach his goal he should follow the spiritual code of discipline (Shastra). in the shastra it has been said that one's Ista mantra is like a bow, the arrow is the I feeling and Brahma the target. Anandamurti then explains that every action has a particular vibration or sound. In the phase of creation the first sound was A, the following sound of maintaining the universe was U and the sound of destruction was Ma (onmkara). Both sounds of the Ista mantra and the Onmkara are called Pranava. Anandamurti goes on saying that one's character has to be freed from mistakes so that the goal of attaining the Supreme self can be achieved.<ref name="AV34"/>

Prańavo dhanuh sharohyátmá Brahma tallakśyamucyate; Apramattena veddhavyaḿ sharavattanmayo bhavet.

[The prańava (as regards spiritual practice, one’s meditation mantra) is like a bow, one’s unit consciousness is like an arrow, and Brahma is the target. One must aim without any inaccuracy and must oneself be like an arrow.]

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that a sadhaka is like a soldier and in order to reach his goal he should follow the spiritual code of discipline (shastra). In the shastra it has been said that one's Ista mantra is like a bow, the arrow is the I feeling, and Brahma is the target. Anandamurti then explains that every action has a particular vibration or sound. In the phase of creation the first sound was A, the following sound of maintaining the universe was U, and the sound of destruction was Ma (Oṋḿkára). Both sounds of the Ista mantra and the Oṋḿkára are called Pranava. Anandamurti goes on saying that one's character has to be freed from mistakes so that the goal of attaining the Supreme self can be achieved.[1]
