The Consequences of Free Will and Mind is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti. This discourse is the twelfth chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 1.[1]

Synopsis

Whatever an animal does, it does according to the rules of Parama Purusa and according to its inborn instincts. On the the other hand human being has developed mind. whatever he does, he does according to his will and mental force. So, according to Anandamurti[1]

. . . if a man does not utilize his developed mind, he will be worse than an animal.

Then Anandamurti discusses pápa and pratyaváya. He tells that which should not be done, if done, is called "pápa" and one thing hat which should be done, if not done, is called “pratyaváya.” The collective name of pápa and pratyaváya is "pátaka." A pátakii may be saved if he tries to forget and leave whatever has been done and starts his journey to the path of spirituality.[1]

There are two more forms of a pátakii— atipátakii and mahápátakii.
