The Three Factors for Spiritual Elevation is the sixth discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in the series Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 1.[1]
Synopsis
In this discourse, Anandamurti discusses the three factors of spiritual elevation or Agragati. Agragati depends on three factors – prańipáta, pariprashna and sevá.[1]
You have come for a very short span of time. Therefore utilize the time to the maximum. Serve the world with the feeling of service. Render service in all the spheres of life – physical, psychic and spiritual.
Prańipáta means complete surrender to the Eternal Entity, Parama Purusa.[1]
Pariprashna means the questions or issues those are related to and responsible for a person's spiritual elevation.[1]
Sevá means "selfless service". When an individual is doing Sevá, it should be done selflessly without an expectation of a return. If an individual expects something in return of Sevá, it might be business, but it cannot be considered an act of Sevá.[1]
Anandamurti also discusses prapatti and aprapatti. Prapatti means "full self-submission", In this expression, a devotee feels— "everything is done by Paramátman, by the Divine Entity". On the other hand, Aprapatti means the mental attitude that all is done by individuals.[1]
With these three factors, a person will get spiritual elevation. Except for these three, nothing else will be of any benefit.[1]
