There Is Oil in the Sesame is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti. This discourse is the first chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 34.[1]

Synopsis

, a Tantric is called, a sádhaka is called, a soldier. [Sádhanásamara] [“the battle of sádhaná”]. Samara means “war”, “battle”, “fight”. The sádhaka is engaged in fight. It is for the brave, it is for courageous people. Sádhanásamara. And this cult is the cult of Tantra. He who wants to keep himself away from fight is unknowingly committing suicide, mental and spiritual suicide. Each and every man should be ready for fight – fight in the mental stratum, fight in the family stratum, fight in each and every stratum of life. This is Tantra.

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by saying that the Supreme Entity lies hidden within our inner "I" feeling like oil in sesame. Sadhana is the practice through which the mind becomes pure and subtle so that the Supreme within is revealed. Anandamurti then says that Parama Purusa is so big that He is beyond the scope of measurement and so tiny that one cannot perceive Him with one's eyes. Anandamurti goes on explaining that if one thinks the Supreme Entity to be far away, then He is even further away; and if one thinks Him to be near, then He is nearer than the nearest. He lies hidden within, and we are to search for Him in our meditation.[1]
